Zapier Integration Guide

This guide describes how to integrate PagerDuty with Zapier. Zapier is a web automation app that enables PagerDuty users to connect to other online services like Salesforce, Basecamp, Gmail, Zendesk, and hundreds of others. With Zapier you can build Zaps (automations between apps) which can automate parts of your business or life. Each Zap has one app as the trigger, where your information comes from and which causes one or more actions in other apps, where your data gets sent automatically. You can also use Zapier to search PagerDuty and send info to another app.

Note: Users must update the App from v1.0.3 to v2.0.2 within the available “Zaps”.

Follow the instructions below to configure your Zapier account to work with PagerDuty.  If you have any questions or need any assistance, please contact our support team at support@pagerduty.com.

In PagerDuty

      1. Go to the Integrations menu and select API Access Keys.
      2. On the API Access page, click Create New API Key.
      3. In the dialog that pops up, you’ll be prompted to enter a Description for your key. You will also have the option to create the key as Read-only; leaving this box unchecked will create a full access key.
      4. Once you have filled in your options, click Create Key.
      5. Once you click Create Key, you will see a dialog displaying your key and confirming the options you filled in on the previous step. Note: Make sure to copy this key into any application that needs it now, as you will not have access to the key after this step. If you lose a key that you created previously and need access to it again, you should remove the key and create a new one. Click Close once you have successfully copied your key.
      6. Once created, you will see your key appear in the list of keys on the API Access page, with versioning noted.

In Zapier

      1. Create a Zapier account or log in to your existing account.
      2. Navigate to Connected Accounts from the top menu. Then click Connect new account and search for PagerDuty. If you already have a PagerDuty connection then please make sure to update it with the latest version of PagerDuty App.
      3. Enter your PagerDuty subdomain, and then the REST API key that you copied in Step 5 above.
      4. Now you can test the integration. If it’s successful, you can move on to create a Zap. If not, please contact Zapier.
      5. While creating the Zap, please make sure you also enter the PagerDuty Service ID for which you want the webhook to be set up for your Zapier Integration. This step in the newer version (v2.0.2) is different from the previous version (v1.0.3) where you don’t have to copy the Webhook URL. The Webhook integration will automatically be set up for your desired Service. You can navigate to your desired PagerDuty service. Select the Integrations tab, you will notice your new integration under the Webhooks section.

Once that’s done you can start creating an automation! Use a pre-made Zap or create your own with the Zap Editor. Creating a Zap requires no coding knowledge and you’ll be walked step-by-step through the setup.
