PagerDuty Study Reveals Security Concerns Are Slowing Adoption of GenAI Among the World’s Largest Companies

The exponential progress of generative AI has ushered in a pivotal moment for business leaders reconciling immense opportunity and the need to mitigate risk. Successfully navigating this uncharted era of innovation calls not only for visionary leadership, but strategic experimentation and knowledge-sharing.

In this spirit, PagerDuty surveyed 100 Fortune 1000 executives about their approach to genAI so far. Their responses reveal significant caution and apprehension regarding adoption in America’s largest companies. Executives express concerns about security risks, moral implications, and potential negative impacts on company reputation, customer experience, and revenue. Human intervention is deemed essential for successful genAI integration, and there’s a consensus on the need for responsible implementation.

Despite concerns, genAI is already in use across various departments, with supply chain management, customer service automation, and predictive maintenance being the most popular applications. Overall, while genAI is seen as a competitive advantage, its adoption is tempered by concerns about security, ethics, and potential job displacement. PagerDuty, as an industry leader in Digital Operations and AIOps, aims to address these concerns, ensuring the operational resilience needed to “roll back” or “fail forward” quickly and get to delivering more value, faster.
