PagerDuty University in the Era of Virtual Training
Social distancing remains essential as we eventually make our way through a post-COVID-19 world. Gone are the days of gathering 50 people into your largest boardroom, ordering pizza, and training them to be fully ramped on a product they are going to be relying on daily. PagerDuty is here to help during this time—a time where most businesses are having to run a virtual NOC, improve their digital crisis management processes, and speed up digital transformation timelines.
With this comes a dire need for education around how to do all that. For anyone with a new PagerDuty investment or for those that are looking to make the leap into operationalizing their incident response and digital operations, we can help you make the most of your kickoff or discovery and ramp new users quickly and effectively.
This is where PagerDuty University (PDU) comes in. PDU is our customer training program that provides technical training to current and prospective customers on the use of the PagerDuty platform, as well as modular, role-based, and best-practice training suitable for any digital operations management practitioner.
We’re here to help educate on a platform that helps you mobilize the right people at the right time in a crisis situation. Moving to a virtual landscape has not stopped our ability to help maximize the potential in reducing recovery time and cost, allowing your team and organization to feel confident and ready in this new, digital-first world.
PagerDuty 101
Hosted by Technical Trainers, this hour-long webinar is the ideal walkthrough for customers and prospects looking to set up the foundations of the PagerDuty platform. Additionally, we are excited to announce that our webinar schedule—which currently runs twice a month, every month—is being expanded to add the first Monday of every month with an EMEA-friendly offering.
Cool! So what does PagerDuty 101 actually cover?
1. Setting up your account
Setting up your user profile is a foundational element to ensure you are getting notified of incidents in a way that makes the most sense to you. Again, gone are the days of being called at any hour, day, or night. With PagerDuty notifications, you will only be called when you’re on shift. You’ll also learn how to apply our recommended best practices to your escalation policies to ensure that proper backup coverage is always in place and that incidents get escalated up the chain of command.
2. How to run an incident through its lifecycle
Learning how to properly run an incident from the time it is triggered to when the service is restored will help your team and organization cut down on the amount of time spent fighting these fires while also improving key metrics like the mean time to acknowledge and resolve (MTTA and MTTR). This can free up your time to work on the things that will help drive revenue!
3. Helpful tips, tricks, and next steps
Post-session, we’ll go over some critical next steps you and your team should take in order to ensure success. For example, have you downloaded the PagerDuty v-card? Join us for the next PagerDuty 101 session to find out what that is and how to use it!

PagerDuty Virtual Instructor-Led Training
