Fun Stuff at Summit in SF!
Did you know that San Francisco’s Chinatown is the oldest Chinatown in the United States? Or that Golden Gate Park is bigger than NYC’s Central Park and is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of a woman who lost her baby in Stow Lake?
These are just a few fun facts about SF. And if you register and join us for PagerDuty Summit 2019, our annual global user conference taking place in San Francisco September 23-25, you’ll get a chance to find out in person how true those facts are! We also have tons of fun Summit activities (in addition to informative sessions and panels) planned. Check out below for all the details.
The Road the Real Time … Starts at Union Square!
On Tuesday, September 24, we’re tenting off Union Square (which is permitted only four times per year, btw, so this is really special) for our Customer Appreciation Party.
And since Union Square is pretty big, there’s something for everyone. Interested in augmented reality? We’ll have that. Interactive art project? We’ll have that, too! Or maybe you just want to grab a drink and some food, and spend your time mingling and networking with attendees, sponsors, and speakers before hitting the dance floor.
The party starts at 6:30 p.m. sharp—don’t be late!
Doing Good in the Neighborhood
A historically gritty neighborhood, the Tenderloin today is one of the more (relatively) affordable neighborhoods and home to some of the city’s most popular restaurants and dive bars.
At Summit, PagerDuty.org will offer our attendees opportunities to give back to the local community through one of our long-term partners, Code Tenderloin, a San Francisco-based organization that helps people transition to employment by providing a unique curriculum that covers technical skills, soft skills, interview preparation, resume creation, and one-on-one mentorship.
Following Tuesday’s keynotes, you will have a chance to directly support Code Tenderloin and make a tangible impact by building hygiene and interview kits that will be distributed to the community. Hygiene kits will provide immediate support to Code Tenderloin’s newcomers—many of whom are homeless—and interview kits will help graduates transition back into employment.
“By taking the time to make kits for people who truly need them, you’re not just putting an item in a bag. You’re letting the community know that you care and understand what they are going though.”
– Donna Hilliard, Director of Programs, Code Tenderloin
Additionally, join us Monday, September 23, for an afternoon walking tour of the neighborhood with Code Tenderloin’s founder and community legend Del Seymour to learn about the Tenderloin’s rich and storied history—including a visit to, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, “the century-old Romanesque revival-style Saint Boniface Catholic Church and St. Anthony’s shelter.”
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is a top priority for PagerDuty, and we pride ourselves in making diversity a priority in our recruiting practices and offering our employees an industry-leading parental leave policy.
For Summit, we have a few events planned that highlight the importance of DEI to PagerDuty and to the tech industry as a whole.
Beyond Entry: The Tech Career Journey for Diverse Talent
This lunch panel will explore the employee experience for non-traditionally educated tech employees. We give voice to alumni, hiring managers, and program directors as they work to deepen the footprint of minority talent in the tech industry and the inherent challenges that they must navigate along the way.
The session will expose prospective employers to the incredible work of PagerDuty’s hiring and nonprofit partners while also highlighting areas of focus to ensure that new hires have pathways to success—both within their roles and within their teams.
Business Value Track: Digital Transformation, Customer Experience, and Diversity
Hear from senior leaders on the importance of including diverse points of view when it comes to digital transformation and creating memorable customer experiences.
Community Awards
PagerDuty Summit is not only a place where we learn, network, and share, but also where we honor and celebrate the community that makes PagerDuty what it is. On Tuesday, September 24, we will be recognizing some of these outstanding customers, partners, and community members for their exceptional work and contributions. Join us at the General Sessions to check out unique use cases, close collaboration efforts, and positive business impact the winners are making by leveraging PagerDuty.
